Internet-Draft Douglas Koh Category: Informational Zhuhai deYin Internet Limited Expires May 31, 1997 Jan 1997 Free competition among new registries (draft-iahc-koh-competition-00.txt) ABSTRACT New registries must be created in such a way that there is true free competition. BACKGROUND We are located in China where free competition is not respected in many areas. As such, we treasure free competition. The creation of many registries does enable competition in a sense. However, we need to look at the exact operation to determine whether there is actually free competition. For example, the telephone business in USA is not quite free competition as Telco has monopoly over its own region. In China, we have experienced that monopoly has led to abuse. PROPOSAL There should be no territorial rights assigned to the new registries. One can go to any registries which offers better services. This will ensure free competition. There may be some difficulties in managing many registries but that is another problem and should not be an excuse to kill the spirit of free competition. Author Douglas Koh dkoh@deYin.com
